Daventry Football Game.
On August 23rd Abby's football team Lupie Warriors were invited to down to play Naomi Tate Memorial football team (NTFC) in Daventry. The team and supporters left just after 5:20am for their trip 320 miles south for their first away game, the excitement on the bus was electric.
Arriving just about one in the afternoon we had time to check into the hotel, then travel the short distance to the match, the game was staged in very high spirit & determination, both teams wanting the win.
NTFC took an early lead & come halftime they had a convincing 4-1 lead. Abby gave some very stern words during the break with the Warriors coming straight out & pulling one back 4-2 with 45 mins to go. We scored again, then NTFC made it 5-3, then 6-3. We pulled another one back 6-4, then we went 7-4 down with 15 to go.
Warriors pulled together for one last challenge and come full time it was sitting 7-7. Then into penalties, after scoring 5 each, we were into sudden death. Warriors managed to take a 7-6 lead, victory to the Warriors.
After the game both sides participated in the #icebucketchallenge. 30 players were soaked to the skin, as we made our way back to the hotel with singing and celebrating on the coach. A couple of hours later we were treated to a charity evening with a special performance from Marc Dillon one of our team from the day. A great day and night was had by everybody. The next day we returned north with the trophy until next year when NTFC are coming to Glasgow for a game.
